The phrase “after their kind” is a common and very important phrase in Scripture, especially in the creation and flood accounts of Genesis. The word that is translated “whale” is the Hebrew word pronounced “Ta-NEEN” which is also translated “dragon, serpent, or sea monster.” Yes! We believe in sea monsters because the Bible tells us that God made them, but that’s another session!
Whales belong to a group of sea creatures called ‘CETACEANS,’ which includes dolphins, orcas (commonly called “killer whales”), belugas, and those highly unusual narwhals that sport a tusk that looks like a javelin!
The big idea about the whale is, that since it’s a mammal that lives in the water, it somehow first evolved on land and then migrated back into the ocean from whence all creatures supposedly began as a clump of life…or whatever they call it.
But HOW could such a transition from sea to land, or vice versa, happen? Charles Darwin, noted guru of evolution, wrote about the whale. He stated that he saw in a traveler’s account a description of a bear “swimming for hours with widely open mouth, thus catching, like a whale, insects in the water.” His idea brought scrutiny even from his own colleagues, so he removed the bear-to-whale idea. However, he later expressed regret about that decision as he “saw no special difficulty in a bear’s mouth being enlarged to any degree useful to its changing habits.” Years later, he still thought the bear example to be “quite reasonable.”
In his notorious book, “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection OR The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life,” he wrote:
“I can see no difficulty in a race of bears being rendered, by natural selection, more and more aquatic…’til a creature was produced as monstrous as a whale.”
A few years ago, even Animal Planet referenced this preposterous idea as plausible!
Can you believe that this thought has even made it into a children’s book entitled “How Whales Walked Into The Sea”?! National Geographic magazine in 2001 even imagined this impossible transition, with supposed made-up “transitional forms” between a dog-like land animal that eventually, hypothetically fully becomes a whale! Notice the question mark following the “Early ungulates”? If they don’t know what came next, HOW do they know the “rest of the story”??
Answer: they DON’T! One of the supposed “in-betweens” (Rhodocetus) was found out to be a mistake! There were NO fossils of the tail, even though the artwork showed one. But all this change from land to sea requires “millions of years” of alleged time, time that cannot undergo the scientific process of observation, testing, or repeating. It is all just an elaborate story.
Many years ago, long before Steve Irwin was killed by a sting ray’s spine, he wrote about when he and his wife saw some whales that had beached themselves. He said, “Terri and I were on Tasmania's West Coast Beach…in the near cyclonic winds…battling …to save 35 Sperm Whales, which stranded themselves… Drenched and frozen we sat in the surf amongst the dying whales, crying. It was hopeless. … They died before our very eyes…We were belittled by the shear enormity of the surf, seas and the magnificent marine mammals. I cry for these whales and I'm really, really sorry that I couldn't save them. My life for theirs…
“My Life for Theirs”--WAIT A MINUTE! The evolution Steve believed made him want to give his life for the whales?? Which life is more important, human or whale? According to God, human life. We’ll see one reason why in a few moments!

Here is the “whale truth”!
Another bit of whale evidence is a 50-foot right whale that was found dead and floating near South Australia, having died of natural causes. It was being scavenged by sharks, and people were wanting to get out of the tour boat to walk on it! Police had to use a bomb to try and sink it, but the blast was absorbed by the blubber, and it eventually sank on its own. This event goes against the typical evolutionary explanation of how fossils form, by something sinking to the bottom of a body of water and gradually getting covered by sediment, as this illustration shows.
Here is yet another find that explodes evolutionary ideas about the whale! This article tells how some whales “mysteriously met their end” in one of the “driest places on the planet”! How could this be? The global FLOOD of the Bible explains this evidence PERFECTLY, how that a bunch of whales could die in the middle of desert!
We at Creation Family Ministries are NOT against science. We LOVE science! We love TRUE science that doesn’t involve elaborate, made-up stories such as the hypothetical dog-to-bear-to-whale idea that just doesn’t ADD UP to actual evidence!
The side of evolution ideology begins with a “goo” that ends up becoming “you” over “millions or billions of years” of supposed time, time that cannot be verified by the scientific method. Such ideas being taught to children reminds us that Jesus said:
“And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.”
Jesus loves the little children, and He cares that they be taught TRUTH, but MANY avenues today have for many years been aimed at teaching evolutionary fairy tales to our young people…such as in schools, museums, zoos, movies, and on TV.
A number of times, God’s Word refers to whales. Jesus spoke of the prophet Jonah who was swallowed by a whale, and lived to tell the tale! He said, “as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
Why was Jesus “three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”? He died for our sins, our violations of His design, and it is through His death, burial, and resurrection that WE can have a relationship with our Creator with full and free forgiveness of ALL sin, and the sure promise of Heaven after this life is over!
